Privacy
This explains what NZ Terrain collects about you, why, and what we do with it. If you have a question, or want to see or correct anything we hold about you, email nzterrain.john@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
- Your order: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it) and delivery address, the place you chose and how it should be printed. We use these to make and frame your print, send it to you, and contact you about your order. We need them to fill your order; without them we can't.
- Your land (if you use it): the address you type is sent to Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) to find it, and the property you pick is outlined on your print. The outlines are LINZ's public property boundaries; they don't include owners' names.
- Payment: you pay in Stripe's payment form. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never sent to us or stored by us. Stripe tells us the payment went through. Stripe's script on our page may also collect information about your device to help prevent fraud; see Stripe's privacy policy.
- Your internet (IP) address: used to count how often each visitor asks for previews, orders and searches, so no one person can overload the site. These counts are forgotten within a day. Our server's logs also record IP addresses, to look into problems; they're deleted after 30 days.
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, we don't sell or rent your information, and we won't send you marketing emails.
Who else sees it
- Stripe, to take your payment.
- The courier that delivers your print: your name, delivery address and phone number.
- LINZ, if you search for an address (just what you type). The map's pictures also come from LINZ Basemaps, so LINZ's servers see your IP address, as for any website.
- DigitalOcean, whose server in Sydney, Australia runs this website and stores the orders on our behalf. They don't use it for anything else.
How long we keep it
We keep the details of each order for seven years, because New Zealand law requires businesses to keep their records that long. Orders that were started but never paid for are deleted after 30 days.
